The Dancing Kings

I've only seen 14 of 21 Dancing Kings, but I include Pai's Devotion and any buildings dedicated to Pan.
— Rainvette, young deer faun pilgrim

Purpose / Function

Followers of Pan build these statues to give back to the King of Song & Dance. The statues are built in the town square, busy road-fork, or a town building. They serve as places of worship, pilgrimage, and entertainment for the people. Offerings of nice clothing, food, drink, and instruments are placed on it's base. These offerings can disappear when placed, but they will end up back into the community if Pan makes a bowing gesture.   Although Pan acts frivolous and portrayed ever-drinking, his people view him worthy of serious worship and build monuments in his honor. The first statue built of Pan was constructed to show their devotion was worth his time to visit their village. Pan was proud of the people's work and gifted them the first Dancing King, although he never asked for such works of devotion, villages began to build statues to prove their devotion, but it quickly became a competition to be the next village with a Dancing King.

Alterations

Pan gifted villages by enchanting these statues to dance and play instruments. The villages called them Dancing Kings after they were enchanted. The namesake stems not from Pan, but the people building the statues' horns adorned much like a king's and the enchantment. Once constructed, this enchant is the only alteration performed besides the occasional repair.   Pan's original purpose was to give the people a source of entertainment, while the people wanted a place to worship. They accepted the gift unaware of the subtle changes the god placed to the statues. The statues can make it's music heard throughout the village and it can play any music whether new, or old. The villagers activate the statue to learn new music and dance, while Pan can sense when the statue is activated. He uses this sense to know if the village is doing well and if the statue has not been activated, he will activate it. A statue will continue to play only if there is someone there interacting with it.   This sense was how Pan knew when Goat's Foot Haven was decimated and its people slaughtered. This destruction was the beginning of Voidling War and a message to all fauns from the Twisted Lord.

Architecture

The materials used for the construction of the statues varies from village to village. Each village containing different resources and talent who can make the material appear as another.

Pai's Devotion

If it could dance, I could see not how for it was a tree shaped Pan.
— a lucky pilgrim
An elder faun lived deep in a Feywild forest and traveled far to reach a faun village. This village knew his name was Pai and desired only privacy. His name and 'devotion' became known across the Feywild, thus his privacy ruined.   The tallest, growing statue of Pan in all of the Feywild rooted in front of Pai's tree-root home. The legs of the statue are two different trees covered in lichen connect to form a bare-barked torso. One hand reaches out towards the ground, while the other arm is bent with the hand to the sky. The face smiles down with hair of leaves and his horns join the sky-hand in forming the tree's canopy.

Band of Kings

You could heard the music at the forest edge and Theron swore he saw a dancing squirrel. We followed the melody to a well-lit building and merriment was being had inside. Moved through a thin dancing crowd hugging the walls, in the center we saw them, a set of white stone men playing instruments and dancing with maidens.
— Kilten, an adventurer
A set of four Pan statues, each possessing a different instrument, made of white stone rest on a stump in the corners of the room. These statues are heavily detailed and capable of performing intricate movements that statues of larger are unable. Their faces hold Pan's likeness, while the rest of their bodies do not. They are all of varying height, but still able to exit the building when a party is outside. Their sculptors stated, "Everyone should be able to feel the joy and ease of a dance with a King."
