Barinak
Barinak is a small secret village built within the Gloomed Jungles of Aeshanadoor and inhabited entirely by a group of lycanthropes, the Gorgynei.
The village istelf is a collection of elaborate tree houses and huts connected by rope bridges and ladders, hidden within the Gloomed Jungles. There is a small central fire pit, surrounded by hide stretchers under canopies of branches and dried leaves. There are small cultivated gardens growing root vegetables including mistfuzz tubers. In the center of the village, just beyond the fire pit, is an oddly carved stone statue.
Demographics
A variety of races inhabit the village, but each inhabitant is also a lycanthrope. Every few months the village accepts a few more lycanthropes that have heard about or been directed to them, but periodically some of the newcomers leave after deciding they don't want to live under the imposed conditions, or lose control of their inner beast and are "put down" by the Gorgynei.
Points of interest
- Statue of Sahyaadon, the Keeper of the Savage Heart. It is an old, 12-foot tall stone image of a humanoid with three bestial snouts stacked on each other like a fan of jaws howling upwards, back arched and arms outstretched with a heart in one clawed hand and a living sapling in the other.
- A massively wide tree wrapped in chains and manacles, to which those who cannot control their inner beast are chained during the full moon.
