Calling Sidereals eccentric is a tautology, but Inspector Demosthenes is an eexemplar of Sidereal weirdness. Exalted in the midst of the solar Purge in the Archipelago of Aristepolis, he worked hard to collect to lore and legacy of his people. This was even as their island homes sank one by one beneath the waves. In the chaos of the Solar Purge, no Sidereal had the time to go hunt down new recruits, and the job was shuffled to ungrateful gods. One Storm Mother found Demosthenes, and taking a fancy to him, attempted to drown him. He exalted under Jupiter's sign, and caged the storm in a ceramic amphora, and used a tiny hole in the cork to lend wind to his sails. He was neqarly a quarter century before a heavenly Censure found him, who was looking for the lost storm mother. In heaven the Inspector is effecitvely the last survivor of his culture, and his home is a replica of Themes, his home island, floating atop a microsea in Yu Shan. He has taken upon himself the role of Inspector, and no mortal dies in heaven without him being told, and if his suspicion is rouse, the Inspector is on the Case. Publically he has middling track record, privately he has racks upon racks of favors owed by desprate gods and mortal families who find his silence agreeable. He has an immense dislike of the Mutual Aid in Desperation Society, and has been unable to crack their true criminality without expending resources he is saving for another day.
As one of the elders in the bronze faction, but one that was critically born after the first blades sang in the Solar Purge, he views Chejop Kejack as few others in the faction do, as a rabble rouser and troublemaker who won't leave good things alone. He leads the conservative wing of the bronze faction, pushing status quo to ossification.
His most terrifying skill his his knowledge. While Chejop knows everyone, Demosthenes knows everyone's cultural history. He has chronicled more rises and falls of nations than any other living being, colleting memorbilia of fallen civilizations like others collect poetry or paintings. When he lacks details, a few gifts to Cynis Sazara can find the answers.
