Personality

Particularly jaded by experiences in her past, Raina is no stranger to violence and tends to be very violent or extreme in just about everything she does. This is a far-cry from when she is analyzing people as a psychologist however, but that is mainly only when she’s on the clock. Alongside this behavior is an unhealthy tendency to obsess over those who wrong her, particularly those who try to be ‘heroes,’ as she will seek to cause irreparable psychological damage to these kinds of people. Lastly, it is worth noting she has no real pinned down mood, as her condition sparks swings that send her demeanor in just about every direction imaginable.

Power 1: Telepathic Mind Infiltration
Raina was born with telepathic powers that allow her to tap into the minds of those around her. This allows Raina to infiltrate the mind of an individual and ‘read’ small portions of their mind such as their baseline (surface) emotional state, wisps of their primary train of thought, and vaguely what signals the affected brain is sending to the body- such as muscle movement. As she has experimented with the power, Raina has noticed an upward trend in the amount of people she can affect at once alongside how intensely she can impact them. For now, Raina can only impact a few select individuals (3-4) at once, as her power diminishes the more people she tries to impact at once. Raina plans to experiment with her power often to learn as much as she can about the extent of her telepathic capabilities.

Examples of Type 1 Actions

Basic: Reading surface emotions of people- can be done to a few people at once before becoming a minor action depending on the number of people read at once.
Minor: Reading stray portions of an individual’s train of thought.
Normal: Reading brain patterns to know what bodily function or movement an individual is about to attempt.
Power 2: Technopathy
Similarly utilizing the ability of Raina’s mind, she is capable of interfacing with technology(machinery?) that she makes contact with. This allows her to assert an influence over most technological objects and entities, but the time to do so is considerate. This also requires a very large amount of concentration and dedication compared to Raina's other abilities, but she is capable of utilizing this investment to disrupt machines and electronic devices. In order to access these abilities, Raina must first understand the design and intention of an interfaced piece of technology. Furthermore, Raina is halted by security programs such as firewalls and anything that creates layers of encryption. The effects of said encryption on Raina’s ability vary depending on the level of security- this can range from merely slowing her progress to blocking certain inputs, but anything that has an extensive system protecting it blocks any attempts Raina may make to interface with an object entirely.

Basic: Interfacing with a machine or technological entity to access a mental user interface specific to that item or construct.
Minor: A ‘download’ of an interfaced piece of technology’s design and its purpose. Requires an interface to complete.
Normal: Assertion of influence on a given system that moderately disrupts a machine or construct’s original purpose. Requires an interface and ‘download’ to complete.

Power: Telekinetic Energy Alteration
Coupled with her telepathic abilities, Raina is capable of using her mind to complete actions in the environment around her. This can be something as simple as lifting a car/moving one, or it can be as detailed as picking a lock. The more intricate an action is however, the more focus is required from Raina in order to complete it. For example, picking a lock would require a moderate amount of concentration from Raina, while something more detailed would require full concentration from her. This may change with practice, but she has yet to experiment with the details. Alongside the ability to complete direct actions, Raina has learned to harness her telekinetic power to direct the flow of kinetic energy at a rudimentary level to accomplish specific outcomes. Examples of this are stopping a travelling bullet by altering the flow of its kinetic energy, or conversely speeding a car up as long as it's within range. This kind of redirection requires more focus the more energy is being controlled, and naturally larger objects bring with them larger amounts of energy. At the moment, Raina can redirect small amounts of energy easily, but must exert great focus to reach the limit of this ability, which can be illustrated by a large truck moving at moderate speeds being the extent of the amount of energy she can maneuver.

Basic: Completing minute tasks such as simple movement of smaller objects or directing small amounts of energy such as slowing or speeding up something.Interfacing with a machine or mechanical entity to access a mental user interface specific to that item or construct. Essentially opening a menu to take further action.
Minor: Accomplishing semi-complex actions along the lines of breaking wood or directing a moderate amount of energy comparable to hindering/increasing the movement of a small car.
Normal: Conducting complex actions such as picking simple locks or directing energy enough to slow down or speed up a van or truck.

Personal history

Having grown up in eastern Ukraine, Raina was often exposed to poverty and a rough life, but it only got more harsh as her brother came home one day screaming of soldiers in their village. Until this point, Raina’s family had led relatively peaceful lives- tending to a small farm and living frugally in a small town. This would persist only for a few years- until Raina had turned 10. As her brother ran inside with tears in his eyes, bombs began to go off throughout the village. From Raina’s perspective, there was no telling what was occurring, but she would later learn that Russian soldiers had been invading their village, disturbing the border between Ukraine and Russia. Her brother only had a few seconds to hug his reassuring mother before their own house was caught in a blast- sending the family flying apart. Raina had unknowingly saved herself using her powers, but had at the time chopped it up to bad luck. Discovering their bodies within the rubble, Raina was forced to leave her family behind and flee. This would lead her down a path of migration that would land her in America, no one but herself to take care of as she now sought to start a new life. Quickly excelling academically and utilizing her mental strengths to accelerate herself through college, Raina would find herself a very comfortable life in the country. Raina has spent years now as a psychologist, and she has always harbored a pain from her past that she seeks to drown out with the pain of others. With the new opportunities arising in New Victoria, she simply could not refuse to try and see if the city offers enough pain to let her forget her past.
