Personality

On the surface she is tenacious and diplomatic, though something acrimonious lingers just out of reach for most. All actions taken are to benefit humanity, no matter the cost. Marin is aware all ideals have varying costs, but remains stalwart in her convictions until the end- willing to pay any price. She believes overdue judgement hangs in the air, and someone must take up the mantle as avenger, though she isn’t naive enough to consider anyone who doesn’t wholeheartedly agree an enemy. Above all Marin wishes to usurp truth with ideals, to reach for the heavens knowing full and well no matter what happens she won’t be alive to know the full extent of her impact.

Marin’s mimic form, dubbed the Stained Cowl, takes the form of a tall bipedal semi-humanoid with slight avian features made from a strange organic material. This material seems to flow like a liquid but behaves like a solid and is otherwise non-newtonian, chemical inert, and hydrophobic by nature- meaning it becomes more solid under physical stress, is not reactive, and repels other liquids that would otherwise seep into or stick to it. Physically this beast stands at twice Marin’s natural height and weighs as much as a mid-sized sedan, with three sets of sickly looking wings that are collectively enough to allow for flight at slow speeds. Overall, the creature appears to have a heightened condition focused on strength and durability, causing it to lack in terms of movement speed. It’s shoulders are three times as broad as Marin’s, though its torso drastically thins down towards the waist that gives way to its lanky pointed legs. Around the shoulder area sits a collar made of spiky protrusions that point outward over the beast’s gangly arms with four fingered hands. Several glowing red eyes manifest on the body, resembling those attached to the billed and horned head that resembles that of a raven. When called upon either partially or totally, the fluid that makes up the organism’s entire body seeps through Marin’s skin and solidifies into the manifested portions of the Stained Cowl, remaining just as mobile as her main form. Regardless of the number of appendages manifest, their strength/weight will be dispersed evenly throughout them. Additionally, Marin is able to repair her main body by manifesting or re-manifesting portions of her form’s body which will change back to her main body when she reverts back to her normal state.

Basic: A wisp of inexplicable terror claws at all individuals within close proximity, causing bodies to tremble gently, hearts to race, and breaths to become heavy.
Minor: A morsel of inexplicable terror gnaws at all individuals within close proximity, causing bodies to shiver, hearts to pound harder and faster, and breaths to become ragged.
Normal: A splinter of inexplicable terror torments all individuals within close proximity, causing bodies to shudder, hearts to drum even faster, and breaths to become gasps for air. If physical contact is made, a seed may be planted.
Marin exudes consuming and inarticulate terror that grasps the consciousnesses of those that are within range. This primal fear weighs on the mind and acts on the body indiscriminately, escalating in intensity as Marin wills it whilst captivating the individuals in question unless they have powered mental protection. Marin is also capable of planting a “Seed” into the psyche of those under the influence of her terror through physical contact. This seed consumes all fear inflicted upon the individual whilst dormant, allowing it to fester in silence. While the implanted individual temporarily becomes immune to symptoms of fear, the seed grows- converting even mundane stress, fear, or anxiety into that of the unknowable terror that Marin herself gives off. Marin is able to cause dormant seeds to bloom on command, only expending EP equivalent to a Strenuous Action when an individual is outside of close proximity. When the seed blooms, all that it accumulated is released at once with varying degrees of potency.

Born unto a world where hope had been ignored and unto parents with two drastically opposing viewpoints and concepts for the future of Evos, Marin was taught how the world ‘worked’ at a very young age. She experienced a microcosm of the world, of the two battling answers to the ‘Evo question’. Her mother sided with the Legislative and Executive branches of the government, though believing all Evos left unwatched would inevitably cause massive levels of societal disorder. Marin’s father opposed this idea, opting to believe that the world needed to adapt and grow alongside Evos and their abilities to reach the next level. Ragnarok was an example, a harbinger of a changing world. The seeds of strife were planted in her mind as she listened on through thin walls in her home throughout the night. Her father would often take her aside and explain his point of view, watering the sprout of barbed morality that grew alongside Marin. The world needed someone strong, at least that was what he told her. Her mother also took her aside unbeknownst to her father, teaching her what she believed to be right- telling Marin how the world ought to be. During these conversations she was told the alternative solution to Evos, something she didn’t understand at the time. The world needed someone strong, at least that’s what she told her. Is it not in a child’s nature to please their parents? This back and forth continued for most of her teenage years as she was pulled from public school and into homeschooling. More time for the blooming flower to grow. She was pushed and pulled back and forth between the two, with the eventual climax of the situation leading to the destruction of her beloved family. Years later she finds herself moving from place to place following the whispers of Evo Activists that hide in the dark, arriving in Virginia in an effort to cut out a more proactive approach for the future
