Unable to adequately display any emotion other than their internal distaste in regards to their condition- Lorian is an individual who tries to imitate as much as possible of those around them. This mainly takes the form of mimicking most emotions, but when they are honest they will tell you plainly how they lack the ability to actually experience what they are faking. Of course it is never that obvious naturally, but sometimes this results in Lorian being completely out of touch with a room- their cold neutrality sometimes shining through on accident.

All of Lorian’s anatomy is made of a specific biologically morphed marble and as such contains most if not all of marble’s properties. The only exemption of this is their eyes, as Lorian’s eyes are a glassy pearl material that they are able to see with. This extreme shift in bodily nature occurred when their power ‘awoke’ when they were 3 years old, causing the traumatic change. To further explain, even Lorian’s internal structure consists of marble, and it is because of this that their internal functions have ceased to continue. Lorian themself does not understand why they are still aware and alive, but they are still able to move, see, smell, eat, hear, and think completely fine. These are the extent of their physical capabilities however aside from regular bodily movement, voicing, and standard external bodily functions. Despite this, Lorian cannot feel or experience most emotions- their dread and anguish at once being human the sole exception. Mentally, Lorian’s thought patterns are similar to that of an AI- but they recognize that they were once human and therefore still think that they can imitate human behavior and actions. There are further specific and minute anatomical changes such as how they can consume food to then be morphed into marble as a pointless pseudo digestive system, or how their hair still moves and acts as regular human hair despite its metamorphic nature- but these are too numerous to list. The actual power aspect of this glossy nature comes from the fact that Lorian is able to passively generate their body’s marble mass at extreme rates, though their eyes are the exception and as such require longer to heal than the rest of their body. This effect takes the appearance of a liquid gold in color that flows into the shape of their body- slowly changing color until it becomes the white marble that was there before the ‘healing.’ This ability activates passively and cannot be activated or staunched by Lorian. This power can grow in rank, but the ability or capability of this power cannot change or grow.

Personal history

Not able to remember most of their past, Lorian has struggled to piece together just what their life was like before the change, but unbeknownst to them is that simply put- there is not much to know. The life with their parents, their cozy home and warm hearth is all that they’d find, little to no commotion or weird sign regarding what would soon become of the young boy or his parents. This of course changed when he was 3 years old, as his power awoke and changed the boy into the marble being that they are now. If Lorian was to learn of the simple and easy life that was stolen from him- it would likely shatter them even despite their regular inability to feel emotion. Still, Lorian seeks out any and all clues of the family that had taken them to New Victoria during the shift- the parents that tried every avenue of aid and attention before finally cutting him free, letting the grasp of the Atlantic take the boy away on its waves forever. Despite this attempt to end their life- Lorian survived and made their way back to civilization, deciding to learn the most they could about their condition and just how they could reverse it- or if that was even possible.
