Angeliqué "Angie" Blake

(a.k.a. The Neon Demon: Ultra-Violet, Violet, or just UV)

Personality

Angeliqué for the most part can be described as pretty chill. Like you’d have to actively be an asshole or just simply strike a sour note in her for the woman to peg you as someone she doesn’t like. In highschool, she was kind of that quiet kid who sat in the back of the classroom staring dreamily out the window or nose deep in a sketchbook. Fortunately, thanks to her job, she learned to open up a little more. Always down to have a casual conversation with people who drop by the shop.   Once you get Angeliqué going about something she’s passionate about, she’ll just light up and begin to ramble on and on. Though if someone doesn’t stop her she’ll eventually notice and get a little embarrassed for rambling. She’s finally in a place in her life where she feels comfortable and she sees this the perfect opportunity to change things up a bit.   Some notable tics Angeliqué has include the following:
  • Staring out a window or into space at random points in time
  • Tapping her nails on a surface to express an emotion or simply to fill a quiet space
  • Twirling the ends of her hair to give her hands something to do when she doesn’t have her sketchbook

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Angeliqué is a 5’10” African-American woman She’s gotten her fair share of “you should be a model or play basketball with that height” comments I can assure you. Her skin is a warm light brown which compliments her dark curly tresses that seem to bounce with her movements. Angeliqué most commonly wears her hair out and flowing, except when she’s working. When she’s working she pulls that shit back into a ponytail or a messy bun situation. She has a couple small simple tattoos, from her apprentice days, on her body. The most visible being on her hands and lower arms. Angeliqué tends to wear a lot of clothes that are either purposely or accidentally covered in paint. Feel free to ask about it, she’ll either laugh and tell you about a project she’s working on at home, or the whole vibe she was going with for a pant leg design. Most of the time her outfits include some kind of oversized sweater/hoodie or denim jacket that she wears over a plain graphic tee or tank top. This rather casual outfit is almost always accompanied by a pair of sneakers. But if she feels like switching things up she might wear some heels for fun.

Personal history

Angeliqué was born on October 21, in Sunny San Diego, CA. Though her time in the golden state wasn’t long because around when Angeliqué was 5 her family moved to New Victoria to care for her aging grandmother.   When Angeliqué was young, she had big dreams and big plans. Go to the Olympics and bring back gold. So she trained everyday to be a star gymnast, with the support of her loving parents. Her childhood wasn’t anything super outstanding. It was simply just; go to school, go to gymnastics, do your homework, sleep and repeat. Which was fine and all, sometimes life is like that. Though as people get older, their interests sometimes shift. That was the case for Ms. Angeliqué Blake. It seemed like out of nowhere, she was just kind of done with gymnastics and her dreams of the gold. One by one she took everything down, and stashed them away in a box under her bed.   That summer Angeliqué fell into a kind of stupor. What did she want to do? Gymnastics was everything to her, but she just kinda lost motivation for it. Highschool came along and that’s where she found her new love. Art. While she would doodle rather casually here and there in her notebook margins, she had never thought to fully explore it. And explore it she did. She dove right into the deep end, familiarizing herself with everything the art room had to offer. Getting lost in her sketches.   Senior year eventually rolled around and Angeliqué was deep into her work. Most of the time she spent in the art room if she wasn’t being dragged around by a friend. This started to worry her father, who had hoped that she would still at least go to college after all of this. Though after much thinking, in truth Angeliqué wasn’t super interested in the idea of college. Sorry Dad. What he didn’t know was that Angeliqué was actually hard at work putting together a portfolio in hopes to get an apprenticeship at a nearby tattoo parlor. Something she’d been considering for quite a while and she wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of that.   With graduation closely approaching, Angeliqué worked her ass off and for a moment things just seemed to be turning up for the better. Then her dad found out about her plans. A big argument broke out between the two, ending in a lot of unsaid truths coming to surface and a lot of hurt feelings. But the deed was done. Taking a break from her portfolio she worked on another project. Moving out. She did so ever so quietly until finally graduation rolled around. On graduation, Angeliqué simply grabbed her diploma and bounced, no goodbye, nothing.   A few weeks after graduation, Angeliqué eventually moved into an apartment in Linden Heights with one of her good friends. She’s been living with them for a while now and she doesn’t regret it. She got the apprenticeship she was working for, and in time she was able to properly call herself a tattoo artist. Everything is in its place and is running smoothly. . .
