There is no question that life on Everwealth, like all places subjected to the wrath of the Schism, has forced many un-wanting folk of all stripes into a most dire situation. Work is grueling for little pay, food is often scarce, education is lacking, realistic, opportunities are few and far between for the large majority and have been for quite some time. All while the crown would seem content to ignore their people's suffering, higher taxations a more frequent occurrence than lucrative work opportunities, or any work at all. As a result, many with their backs against the wall, faced with nothing bot misfortune are unfortunately pushed to desperation, so desperate, that they shirk their morals and the bond of brotherhood in order to make-ends-meet. Deceit, robbery, murder, when confronted with the matter of life and death, or with an insatiable greed, there is for many no other option than a life of crime. This in mind, to stave-off a trip to the the gallows for their actions, just as soldiers work better in teams, why work is done better and faster with extra hands, so-too do criminals often seek the aid of like-minded individuals to accomplish their nefarious tasks. Rival drug-dealers who combine their resources to increase overall profits, a network of spies compiling information to sell to the highest bidder, no matter their dubious intentions, from street-gangs to expansive cartels with members in every city, plenty of outlaws and monsters alike are more than willing to help continue the cycle of misery, for a price.
