Shadowspark

"No one knows what terrible magics Faranach imbued to land around the Shadowflare keep, but we can see the results even now, hundreds of years after his demise. The veil between planes is extremely thin in the area. Especially strong are the connections to the Shadowfell and Negative Energy Plane. And we see this as a phenomena we call Shadowspark, the last curse the lich Faranach left us. Whatever we do, the dead won't stay dead. They will come back, whether we want it or not. But luckily the magnificent minds ruling Merian have been able to bypass even this terrible curse."

Manifestation

Shadowspark is phenomena that raises the dead even without any magic-users re-animating the dead. This phenomena also heightens the power of necromantic spells cast on its area. It is also claimed by some that Shadowspark is the reson for the thin layers between the planes of existance that occurs around Merian.
