While not having been under direct sunlight these stones look like dull opaque crystals which are cool to touch. When exposed to sunlight they begin to shed bright light and warmth around them for 348 days, after which they turn back to their black form.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Light infused lightstones shed bright sunlight around them proportioned to their weight. One pound of lightstones lights about 10 feet radius around itself. This light is considered bright summer daylight for all purposes.

Lightstones are usually used as a light and warmth source in the dark world of Evernight. They can also be made into metal to use in armors and weapons for built in light, but this method is only known by very few.

Light of the lightstone fades in 348 days of its infusion to direct sunlight no matter the size of the stone. It has also been proved, that exposing lightstone to shadows of the Sea of Shadows drains the light much faster. Reasons for this are still unkown.
