Ilamin Lightbringer

Dawnwatcher Ilamin Ikareis Wakert (a.k.a. Lightbringer)

"Go forth, Ilamin. The world needs to witness your zeal. By your actions they will come to learn the glory of Daylord. They live in darkness never knowing of delivering light of Lyraki. Be their guiding light, lead them through the night to see the brilliance of the dawn. From the very first moment you stepped to this temple so many years ago, I have known that this will be your destiny. Rise, Ilamin Lightbringer. Your time has come."

    Personal history

Ilamin was born to a poor merchant family in Sundair. Embarrassed, the parents hid his idiosyncratic Aasimar nature, as they feared it would provoke superstition among the local population. Throughout his teens, he worked as a sailor on a ship that transported traded goods around Marghuin. However, the long dark weeks on the substandard vessel, which couldn’t afford to carry any lightstones, depressed him immensely, and as he turned 18, he decided to seek another path in life. He had just finished a voyage back to Sundair, where he decided to disembark the ship for the last time.   After traveling the lands west from Sundair for years, he found something particularly intriguing; a light atop a hill outside a small town. As he approached, he could merely guess the tremendous power and potential the comforting brilliance could possibly retain. Entering its illuminating aura seemed to lift the last of shadows from his heart. It was as if the Beacon itself had settled on that hill, not only for one day, but for eternity. In the center of the radiance he found a building of elegance yet modesty, a true masterpiece of design, a shrine solely dedicated for light, for glorious Lyraki Daylord himself.   Ilamin found great interest in the doctrines of the clerics, who accepted him as their acolyte. Due to his burning passion and Aasimar coherence, he quickly advanced in the divine practice of magic, eventually even sent to finish his training in the utmost highest, Temple of the Sun on the Isles of the Dawn. There he managed to achieve the title ‘Lightbringer’, as he finally completed his training to become a guardian of the light.   Given the denomination, he was sent back to Marghuin to bring light for those in need. It was for the generous providence of Lyraki and Ilamin’s submission that his path was guided cross with that of Thomon Everwood, then just a captain in Ganado's army. Ilamin became good friends with Everwood, and when Everwood decided to leave the army and to found his mercenary band of Knights of Trueblade, Ilamin was one of the first he asked to join by his side. Ilamin gladly took the offer.   As the threat of Faranach the Lich became imminent in the eastern parts of Marghuin, Knights led by Everwood decided to take the fight to him. For Ilamin this was a especially important quest, for he was convinced that destroying the lich would finally bring the sun back to world of Evernight.   After the Knights of Trueblade finally managed to slay Faranach, Ilamin was disheartened, for the sun did not return as he had thought. However, standing next to his fallen captain and long time friend Thomon Everwood, Ilamin knew what he had to do. Everwood had created the Knights of Trueblade to offer assistance to whom ever needed it. Ilamin wanted to honor Everwoods dreams and memory and thus he became the second leader of the group. For almost ten years he worked tirelesly to expand the numbers of the Knights and to make sure that they continued the important work that they had begun.   However, Ilamin had to step down as his role of Grandmaster of Knights of Trueblade in year 12771, when, after the death of Dawnwatcher Fureis Ksakos, a halo of light descended upon Ilamins head marking him as the new Dawnwatcher, the high priest of Lyraki Daylord.   For rest of his life Ilamin served as the most respected and powerfull cleric of the gods of the Court of Light. Many sought him out to ask his councils. Ilamin never settled down on Temple of Sun. In his heart he was still a adventurer and a Knight of Trueblade, and whenever he was called upon, he donned his armor and his trusted mace. Most of his time Ilamin spent on a small temple he built upon the highest mountain of Sulodur Highhills, the Everclimb. There he trained the next generation of acolytes to serve Lyraki Daylord. Ilamin died in the Beacon of 12819 with his gaze on the sun and smile on his lips. He was burried near the temple he had built.
