"Every landlubber has heard of tales of terrible storms in the seas. However, to most sailors, they are mora of a nuisance than a danger. But arcane storms on the other hand, well thay are a tale of their own. They are something entirely different. Rain is like knives and I don't mean like proverbial knives, but literal, magic induced daggers fallinf from the sky. Try taking down the sails in the midst of that. And lightning, well, think of it like this: You know how bad the worst thunderstorms can be with lightning striken without a pause. Then imagine, that everyone of those lightning strikes is replaced by a freaking fireball! And don't even get me started about the winds. Perhaps that is a tale better left for another time. Just remember this: If you wanna see pale white elf, a good way is to walk to a drow sailor, and aske about his last encounter with an arcane storm. I tell you, works everytime."

Arcane storms are rarely strong and powerfull storms that rage on the high seas of the Evernight. They are the strongest of the storms, ripping throug the waters at horrifying speeds, destroying everything that happens on their way. In addition to strenght of the storm, arcane storms are also enhanced by strong arcane powers, as the name dictates. Each storm is different, and one cannot know whhat kind of horrors wait in the midst of the storms. Those who have witnessed the arcane storms and survived, tell that some elements of the storm took spell like attributes into themselves, such as instead of lightning the the storm showered the seas with large fireballs, or the winds bringing with them noxious gasses.
Some scholars have dedicated their lives to discover the secrets of the storms. However, no one has yet to discover how and why they are formed. Many theories have been proposed, such as some powerfull elementals being the culprits behind them, but no evidence has been provided, and the truth is yet hidden. A more unscientific minds have proposed, that perhaps they are not of natural design, but rather made by someone or something. These same opinions point out, that most of the arcane storms are found in northern parts of the Isles of Dawn, where the Dargonshores of the legends are often thought to exist.

Localization

Arcane storms can be found from the seas everywhere around Evernight. However, they are extremely rare anywhere else than in the northern parts of the Isles of Dawn. Some scholars claim, that all of the arcane storms are born in that area, and the ones found from other parts of the world are just lingering and lost remnants of the storms there.
Arcane storms are mostly danger on the open seas. For reason unknown, they tend to loss most of their arcane and unnatural attributes after leaving the seas and moving inland. They are still known to devastate costal towns and cities that where caught unaware of their approach, and ocassionally some inland settlemnts have also suffered great losses to them.
