Thorncat
Thorncats are ambulatory and carnivorous plants generally shaped like cats. They are popular mounts for Embereki archers.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Thorncats, as the name implies, are generally cat-shaped. They have four legs ending in clawed paws. Unlike other cat-like species, the paws are prehensile, as it the tail of the creature, better for navigating the trees of it's jungle home. The bark that covers a thorncat's body is rough and, of course, thorned.
Genetics and Reproduction
Thorncats are capable of planting a seed in the remains of a victim, which takes several months to grow into a mobile baby thorncat.
Ecology and Habitats
Thorncats are native to the western edges of the Sikherrit jungles, the places of massive spiraling trees. They generally prefer not to be anywhere near the ground if they can help it.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Thorncats are carnivorous. They specialize in large game, and drag the carcasses as a pack into thorny overgrowth areas or high into trees to protect the kill from scavengers. They proceed to feed off the carcass for weeks, as they can supplement meat with photosynthesis.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Thorncats are used by the Embereki as arboreal mounts. They make great choices of battle companion for the Embereki, who traditionally favor high terrain and projectile weaponry.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Limited to the Sikherrit jungles. While native to the western boundaries, they have spread to the center and even eastern sections.
Average Intelligence
As plants, thorncats do not think the same way even small animals do. They simply lack brains of any kind. As such, behavior is difficult to predict, though those raised by Embereki are often protective of their riders.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The four eyes of a thorncat give it 240 degree vision, which it relies on entirely. The cats have no sense of smell or taste.
