Sweetstone
A white mineral hard to distinguish from salt at first glance, sweetstone is a toxic substance that only occurs in the Aaldenbur Mountains, deep below the earth and most commonly found near volcanic vents. When ingested, the rock causes a state of euphoria and severely stunted ability to feel pain. Ancient Dwarves used to use it to help relieve fatigue after long days in the mines, but the practice was abandoned long ago for safety concerns. Sweetstone is highly addictive, and excessive use can cause hallucinations and aggression. It can be fatal to use by species without a natural resistance to poisons, and yet remains a popular substance in the underworlds of major cities.
