Rosarious, the Strong-Willed
Rosarious the Strong-Willed is one of the ten remaining True Dragons of Illiria, and the last of the copper Dragons. He is the lord of Crimstone Port, though he prefers to let an appointed agent do the actual governing. He is considered one of the kindest of the dragons, and is known to listen to the problems of his servants and fix them as best he can. This is best seen in Crimstone itself, which the Dragon personally shaped from the canyon into a wonderful city of red stone.
Rosarious's scales resemble copper plates, and his head is like a helmet that covers his eyes and nose to those unfamiliar with draconic anatomy. This natural facial covering also ends in semi-flexible horns. Compared to other True Dragons, he has a longer, more snake-like body. The humanoid form of the Strong-Willed is a muscular male Gnoll. In Dragon form, Rosarious has a line of red-brown hair growing down his spine, which he keeps upon transforming. While preferring to spend his time as a Dragon, Rosarious can often be seen wandering the streets of Crimstone Port, carefully examining each building to see if any improvements need to be made and adjusting as he goes. The constant reshaping of Crimstone is a favored pastime of the dragon. Like all copper Dragons, he also has a particular weakness for comedy, and frequently has fools, clowns, and comedians as guests.
The Strong-Willed is an average spellweaver among Dragonkind, which still puts him leagues ahead of any mortal wizard. He has crafted a great number of Living Spells fortified by Contingency Runes, which travel around Crimstone to enact constant repairs. Similarly, the city itself is guarded by stone constructs of his design. The magic of Rosarious is especially potent when animating stone, such that the city is full of animal-shaped stone constructs that serve no purpose other than to exist. On occasion, he releases spells among his people designed only to make them laugh or feel joy.
The Dragon's title of Strong-Willed is a holdover from the days before the Dragon War, when hundreds of copper Dragons roamed the continent. Rosarious was able to withstand the magics of every single one of his opponents, and could not be beaten by his fellows in contests of endurance. The sheer willpower of the Dragon occasionally makes those that live in Crimstone laugh uncontrollably for minutes at a time if he does not take care to suppress his magic.
The magical abilities of Rosarious are often mocked by other dragons, though feared by mortals. He is known to be capable of literally killing with humor, telling a magically enhanced joke that causes the target to laugh themselves to death. He can breath a jet of acid at foes so strong it can cut through rock, or emit a gas that causes anyone who breathes it in to move extremely slowly for a time. This slowing effect also surrounds the Dragon himself, though it is limited in range to ten feet or so.
Like all True Dragons, Rosarious keeps a harem of mortal lovers, the mothers of his dozens of Half-Dragon children. While he has forbidden them from ever leaving Crimstone proper (an order enforced with potent Contingency Runes), they are allowed and encouraged to practice their own stonecraft in specially designed sections of the city called quarries, and occasionally they are allowed to sail out to some islands off the coast that Rosarious also holds dominion over.
