Netaris City
The capital of the kingdom also called Netaris, Netaris City takes up most of the island kingdom. It was established by Rivaenfollowing the defeat of Confederate forces in the Sylvan War. Netaris, and by extension Netaris City, is enshrined in Imperial law as a place for Rivaen to live as they choose, so long as Imperial taxes are paid and a garrison is maintained and not interfered with. The city is traditionally overseen by a Baron who swears loyalty to the Imperial Throne first and the High King of the River second. Since 1104, the Baron has been Varalan Zuola, who purchased the title from the previous Baroness following a now-suppressed scandal.
Netaris City is the only sizable settlement in the Kingdoms built with 'Druidic influence' in mind. It still has the manufactories that the River Kingdoms are known for, but they are limited in scale by the law of the Baron and must consult with a council of Druidic, Imperial, and local representatives before making any major changes to the operation. As Netaris City is conveniently located on an island dotted with small, fast-moving rivers, the factory owners concede to these terms rather than move the operation elsewhere. The largest of these, Crystalcorp, is a recent addition owned by the Baron themself and the Mage's Guildin conjunction with a druid-approved mining firm. Since the founding of Crystalcorp and the Guild's subsequent expansion of crystal technology, Netaris City has experienced a booming economy causing it to come into conflict with the other Kingdoms.
