Luna's refuge

Összegzés

In the troubled times of the beginning of the Great Darkness, a noble lord from the Southern Kingdom encountered a Dryad in the forest while hunting. He was so mesmerized by the creature's beauty that he dragged her away from the forest with the help of his court magician and took it to his castle. However, by the third day, everyone in the castle was dead, and a month later the fortress itself collapsed.
The fairy called Luna asked the gods for help, but only the goddess Pandora heard her plea. With the power of the Mistress of Darkness, the dryad took revenge on her captors, and then in her anger she buried even the stones in the depths of a lake of black water so that no memory of her captor would remain. She lived in the clearing that formed on the site of the castle and is probably still there to this day.
Whoever approaches the lake feels an irresistible urge to dip in it, and whoever reaches the water never comes out.

Történelmi Alap

The descriptions correspond to a former castle on the western edge of the Dark Forest, which suddenly disappeared from the maps. According to historians, the destruction of the people of the castle was probably caused by the Smoking Pox that was common at the time, but how the disease reared its head, one can only speculate. It is also possible that the kidnapped fey (or herbalist) took the disease-carrying, dangerous Purple Tendril from the forest with her to escape her captors. The castle was probably set on fire by the peasants in the area to prevent the further spread of the epidemic, and then the ruins were swept into a gully by a mudslide or landslide during the monsoon. The former estate is no longer marked on the maps, the inhabitants have fled or died, and nature has taken over the area.

Kulturális Reakció

This legend is well known in the Southern Kingdom, one of the countless horror stories about the Dark Forest. In each of the legends that spread on Lifeon, in contrast to the beautiful Milarys or the extremely talented and intelligent Caronna, the figure of Luna appears as a humiliated and vengeful woman, and in each case she erases the object of her anger in the most cruel way possible.

Művészetben

Luna is the only character among the "twelve eponymous constellations" who is almost always depicted naked by artists.
