Tørsted

Tørsted is an old forgotten defensive outpost, built in a time when humans fought against the Gógari. Tucked against the country wide Dividing Wall and set in the shadow of Ogroa Tower, its people struggle daily with fear, hunger, and disease.

History

Before the Purgers came, the land where Tørsted now lies was a dry glade in the midst of a swamp. In the centre of this glade stood a pinnacle of solid Source like a pillar of obsidian which was later converted into a tower of defence. The village of Tørsted itself began as a human encampment for the Purgers. As construction was done on the tower, the tents were replaced with more permanent buildings made of wood and clay. These same buildings do not stand today as their camp was destroyed several times by Gógari, during the rule of the Purgers as well as after their demise.   After raising the Dividing Wall, there was a period of relative peace. The Purgers turned their defence tower into a centre for the manufacture of their Source Weapons. The outpost grew into a town with a gravel foundation. With the invention of pumps, the swamp was drained and converted into fields for agriculture. The Purgers brought cattle and horses. Ten full years passed before the Gógari returned. The buildings and fields were burned. Their livestock were repossessed by Connies and Pillaries, who protect their herds to the death. The purgers returned with more weapons and monsters of their own. The Tower and town was reclaimed and rebuilt.   This back and forth continued for 500 years, until the Fall of Utopia  saw the demise of the Purgers. The Tower became abandoned and the gates were bricked up, sealing the Gógari, and the swamp, on the east side of the Wall. The descendants of the soldiers who were left at Tørsted struggled on against the weather and the mischief of weaker Gógari. Their own history was quickly woven into legends, superstitions and fire-side tales. The knowledge of books faded and technologies were lost.

This is way ahead of where I am in my world so, while creating this for Summer Camp 2020 was perfect, this article won't be fleshed out for some time.
