Aegis City

Aegis City is the sprawling capital of the Kingdom of Guardia, and serves as a cultural, governmental, and industrial center for the kingdom. Its fertile lands make for prime farming, and it is able to support most of the kingdom on its crops alone. Additionally, Orgorm Castle, the seat of power for the Kingdom, resides here.

Demographics

While Aegis City is largely representative of Guardia as a whole, it has a slightly larger population of halflings, and contains a small population of elves and half-elves, as well as a wide variety of unusual races.

Government

While the monarchy resides here in Aegis City, they do not directly oversee the affairs of the city. Instead, Governor Arnor Drudin presides over the city at city hall and reports to the King's cabinet.

Industry & Trade

The city maintains its huge population through farming of the surrounding lands, as it is right in the middle of the most fertile ground in the kingdom. However, it also maintains trade routes with other cities in the kingdom, as well as a favorable trade relationship with the Raijin Shogunate. Most goods exported from Aegis City are sent to the shipyard at Dellan.

Infrastructure

The city is divided into districts. The Inner Ring is a district around the castle that houses the nobles and social elite of the city. The buildings and public works here are extremely fancy and well-maintained, and lots of upper-class establishments are operated here. This district has walls separating it from the Outer Ring, but the gates are open to the public. The Outer Ring is more of your typical city fare, with the vast majority of the population living in this district.

Geography

Aegis City itself is built directly on top of the Ogurgor River, and uses it as part of its sewage system. This river also allows for trade up into the T'Chor pass.   The land around Aegis City is incredibly fertile, and quite a lot of it is taken up by thousands of square miles of farmland that supports the city itself, as well as nearby towns. However, too far in any direction will change the climate drastically. The ground gets wetter the further south you go, and it isn’t long before you enter the marshlands of Bracken. The plains area in which Aegis City lies is also surrounded by the Ur’grim mountains, and the foothills can easily be reached from the city.
