Tel Haveh

Tel Haveh, the World's Coinpurse, Capital of Trade, and the place where everyone wants to be. What started as only a little village so many generations ago has since become the most populated city on the continent, and for good reason. Anything can be found here, from simple things such as goods, to services illegal in other nations. Bounty hunters, assassins, trackers, mercenaries, and so much more. Constructed and ruled under Empress Aisya Al-Shaer, Tel Haveh is in every way exotic. Come, stay awhile; just keep an eye on your coin purse while you're here.

Demographics

Tel Haveh is practically lawless when it comes to who can and cannot be here. The skins, feathers, and furs of all the population are just as colorful as the tents and tarps in the Shades. With a population as big as it is, it's hard to get a grip on the amount of races here. However, with the hostile Arasil Teachings still prevalent in Freiler, many tieflings and fey sought refuge among the sands of Tel Haveh. Furthermore is a large populous of lizardfolk from the Ripa Tribes is also prevalent here.

Government

Many believe they can control the people with decrees of law and legality, but Empress Aisya Al-Shaer sees past this. Rather than ruling the town, she allows it to practically govern itself, lets the people choose and abide by their own laws. She is a unifier after all, not a tyrant. As such, the law is lax here on an official level, but down on the ground within the markets? Rules are king, and anyone to crosses those laws are liable to be beaten by everyone else present. One doesn't even need guards if the people are willing to do their own dirty work.

Infrastructure

Both Tel Haveh's greatest weakness and strength. Trade is what keeps this city alive, nothing more. Farms cannot hope to sustain the population of this size, nor could contractors hope to keep up with housing them all. Thus, the free market keeps the city afloat; some merchants know of the food situation, and prey upon everyone's need to eat. Come carpenters lend their services only to those willing to pay top denar for a permanent living space. Every good and service can be bought and sold here, and only the taxes are what keep it all from crumbling down.

Districts

The Shades: Despite the anxiety inducing name, the shades is actually a collection of tents and tarps of traders rather than buildings beyond the high walls of Tel Haveh. Bustling, loud, and chaotic, you best watch your coin purse in these parts. Whether it being a petty thief or a silver tongues salesman, you'll be losing coin one way or another.   Six Mires: Similar to the Shades, Six Mires is another trade focused district. However, these shops are actually structured from brick and mortar rather than cloth and posts. Many merchants have realized their place is here within Tel Haveh, and have no intention of moving anywhere else. More heavily taxed but safer than their neighbors across the river, this is just as great of a district as any other.   Dawn Road: Dawn Road is a strange place, a mixture of all and none at the same time. It stretches into both what should have been the Shades as well as Six Mires. Even stranger perhaps is that it covers both inside and outside the walls, with guard and crooks alike roaming the streets. It even owns a portion of the docks. With its hands in nearly everything, many illicit deals are done here, from untaxed goods to magic artifacts the like you've never seen.   Silverbrook: The most regulated portion of Tel Haveh's market districts, Silverbrook is where you go if you intend on buying only legal goods. While their choices of goods may be more limited than the other districts, what you gain here is of only the highest quality. Internationally renowned blacksmiths, pure bred exotic pets to own, masters of arcane willing to infuse your gear with enchantments... all for a fee of course. Nothing is ever free.   Smokewell: Reigning over the docks and within the city, Smokewell is the heart of the city. Just close enough to the rest of the districts to get their hands onto any goods they want, Smokewell is the jack-of-all trades of the districts. Furthermore, it is also where most travelers stay, with a highly competitive market of inns and taverns trying to undercut the other and fill their vaults with coin.   Hanging Vine: Finally moving away from the MANY marketing districts with their many laws, taxes, gangs, and everything else, Hanging Vine is the residential district. While the vast majority of people sleep in their shops, Hanging Vine is for those who actually live day to day here. Couriers, farmers, council members, they all stay here.   Cloud House: The military district. While nearly everywhere else runs rampant, the Cloud House is the district that demands order. Guarded by the Empress' private guards wielding smoking maces, visibility is limited here, as well is your access.   Citadel: The Empress' palace. Easily towering above the rest of town, the building itself is a monument to Aisya and her prowess. Many claim to have seen her on the balcony, watching the town flourish with a sense of self pride.   Old Home: Ancient buildings wearing away, the Old Home is all but abandoned, or rather would have been if not for Aisya's efforts. Remnants of an ancient village, Aisya has preserved the buildings and cut off access from the public. Scholars, mages, and others of that variety are allowed in however to study and theorize about the ancient times.
