Al-Shaer (Al-Sha-Eer)
The Al-Shaer family, quite possibly the most influential of all the political parties scattered across Etutela. Consisting of only two members, Imaad Al-Shaer and his mother Aisya Al-Shaer, it's surprising the amount of power the two hold. While not inherently a threat with their military, which could easily be squashed by the larger nations, they control something far more valuable; trade. Without it, they could starve the world of resources, and the climate they reside in would make a homeland invasion quite difficult. Navigating nothing but sun and sand can prove fatal to even the most experienced of adventurers.
However, despite the influence and indirect power they hold, the Al-Shaer family is a peaceful one, wanting only every party involved in their trade to prosper and grow. Ironically given their culture as merchants, their goals are beyond accruing coin. No, they intend to put forth their funds into research and prosperity; they create schools for the rich and poor alike. They create colleges where ancient artifacts can be researched. They've even funded innovation to the highest degree, creating all sorts of technological advances.
