Village in despair

I tried my best, or so I thought. But in the end, I wasn’t good enough.
My journey back to Veridale is depressing. What am I going to tell my family, my friends and neighbors?
For years and years, the seemingly never-ending drought has created hardship and despair for everyone. This prophecy and my mission were the first signs of hope in a very long time.
The miles stretch on and on. I leave the ominous Clockwork Tower behind and make my way through the forest.
That damn willow tree. I don’t want to see it again and take the long route instead.
After what felt like I ages, I can finally see the first few buildings in the outskirts of Veridale. Although I had more than enough time to think of an explanation for my failure, I didn’t come up with anything.
