Journey to the Clockwork Tower

With new clarity, I finally have the directions I need to get to the tower. As I look up to the horizon, I can already sense that this won’t be an easy journey. I’m close, but giant dark violet clouds are the telltale sign of a looming thunderstorm.
I pick up the pace, almost running now. This is no ordinary storm.
CRACK! BOOM!
Lightning strikes across the sky and the thunder is deafening. A nearby tree is split in two, I’m sprinting now.
And there it is: the Clockwork Tower. I made it!
I reach the bottom of the tower which is completely submerged in some sort of dark mist.
An ancient looking wooden door marks the entry to the tower. I rattle the doorknob. Once. Twice. It doesn’t open.
