Human

Like their humanoid cousins Dwarfs and Giantkin, humans are very diverse in appearance. They have soft skin that may be any shade ranging from nearly black to very pale, and head and body hair in a variety of colors and textures. Whereas dwarves are typically short and stocky and giants are typically tall and mighty, an individual human can stand from 5' to a little over 6' tall and likely has a serviceable though not typically exceptionally powerful body compared to other races.   Because of their relative sponginess, humans throughout history were forced to be creative, ambitious, and adaptable if they were to survive among bigger, stronger peoples in a world full of beasts and untold dangers. Though they do not have claws, venom, fangs, or any biological means to defend themselves like many of the beasts of the world or the might or keen senses of other races, humans should not be underestimated, for their creativity and adaptability remains unmatched. In fact, it has led most humans to being exceedingly proficient innovators of spellcraft and willers of Anima, their ambition and powerful wills easily molding reality to produce the effects they desire.   Humans have historically used their ingenuity to fashion unique tools, traps, and structures. This creative impulse tends to serve humans well as they tend to live fully in the present—making them well suited to the adventuring life—but also plan for the future, striving to leave a lasting legacy. Individually and as a group, humans are adaptable opportunists, and they stay alert to changing political and social dynamics because their survival depends upon their ability to weather such changes and to find a crafty way to come out on top no matter what. Because of this, humans are typically quick to ally and befriend other races, forging symbiotic relationships with them to secure their own safety and future success.   At least since The Draconic Exodus, humans have maintained a steadfast alliance and typically peaceful relationship with Orcs whose brawn and sheer power paired perfectly with humans' creativity, adaptability, ambition, and sheer force of will. Together the two races have established many civilizations, societies, kingdoms, and nations over the millennia, shoring up each other's weaknesses and bolstering each other's strengths. Because of the particularly close historic relationship between humans and orcs, intermarriage and other forms of intermingling are highly common and have now produced an almost wholly blended culture and the most popular kind of Halfling: the half-human half-orc. In fact, at this point, almost all humans have a bit of orcish blood in them and almost all orcs have a bit of human.
