Boom Powder

Gnomish Inflagration Dust, better known as Boom Powder, is a flammable and highly combustible concoction of salts and minerals. Originally used as a way of mining with little physical labor and no magic, its applications have grown. The fact that it is not magical, reliably produces its results, and literally anyone can use it are the common reasons given as its appeal.
Detractors often criticize the damage a lay person can perform without actually realizing how dangerous it is, and since it cannot be detected by any known magical means (aside from lighting it on fire) it poses a security risk.

The substance so far as only been reliably produced by Gnomish engineers from Cavegulf, it has certainly been attempted by the dwarves of Grimtol Strongholds with varying degrees of success. The Gnomes guard its creation and use, so far only trusting the Azure Regiment in using it. The increasing use of the substance in gnomish inventions, however, leads many to believe it is only a matter of time before other discover how to craft it.
