Djerad (J'air Ahd)

The Western-most settlement in The Dragonlands Empire is also the most open to outsiders.   Djerad was initially a much smaller and quieter settlement, but through years of contact with "The Younger Races" and their merchants, it's foundations stretched outwards and became the city it is today.   It is said that the lake to the North is of ancient significance to the Dragonborn people of the Empire, but it seems only "the trusted" are told the tale.

Demographics

The city is comprised almost entirely of Dragonborn and, to a lesser extend, Kobolds. The Dragonborn citizens can be found in many professions - From working the mines and doing building work, to owning businesses and creating trade routes. Kobolds also perform a number of roles throughout the city. Many work in kitchen, some clean the city and a handful are even allowed into the military. Whilst walking through the city, you're much less likely to see Kobolds in the streets.

Government

Ruled by the Head Priest of Djerad. A position appointed by The High Priest of the Twin-Temples.

    History

As the early rulers in The Dragonlands decided to expand and settle new sites, the large northern lakes provided an ideal anchor point. Both Rokthorl and Djerad were the resulting settlements, eventually expanding into the cities they are today.   Djerad has long been seen as the "friendliest" city in The Dragonlands. The truth is that Djerad has simply experienced more outsiders and began to find value in their trade goods. This lead to the creation of The Djerad Marketplace - by far the largest in The Dragonlands.
