Coreshot

Coreshot is a game played mostly by children, and gamblers with a sense of nostalgia. Finding its roots in the small mining villages of Efrithel, any place with a local smithy on that level has a dedicated Coreshot tournament.

History

The apprentices of the forges would notice the beautiful cores within the broken fragments of Burnace Stones stepped on and crunched into dust. During their down time, they found ways to shatter the outside of the stones away from the core. First by tossing them against walls, or carefully breaking them off with bones and antlers. However, it was eventually discovered that the cores themselves had the best properties to simply destroy the exterior and not also crack the center.   This naturally evolved into a competition as beautiful patterns and elements became surprise trinkets in the form of the intact semi-prescious glass-like mineral within. Rules and winners then became the next stepping stone games so often have, and now scheduled tournaments bring excitment and competitive spirits to the people of Efrit.

Components and tools

Shooters - These are Burnace Stone Cores which were broken freen in past games. These lovely inner red gems are prized for different reasons, only know to their owners. Some prefers larger cores for more surface area on targets, some prefer smaller, more penetrating bullets as their tool. These cores vary in different shades of red, some with some swirls or iron flecks, and as these Shooters survive and are well used, they become incredibly smooth and glossy.   Burnace Stars - These are the many intact Burnace stones chosen for the prized core within. They are renamed as "stars" in reference to the dying red stars the cores resemble, and also because any one could contain a "star" core. These insanely rare cores contain the exceedingly sought after "galaxy" pattern, with black onyx, slivery alabastar, golden sulfur, or copper-iron flecks shimmering within.   Broken Belt - This refers to the broken scraps of cores and stars arranged in a 5 ft diameter circle to denote the area of play. Shooters that go outside the belt are disqualified from play for that match. Burnace Stars rarely if ever move all that much from where they first land when dropped, so they are not disqualified, as they barely make it out even with effort.
