Summary

The centerpiece of a civilization, Catalyst II is so named for its responsibility for the crash of the IPV Paradise, as well as paying homage to another geometrid, the first Catalyst, a Geometrid that existed millions of years ago that is thought to have seeded the eventual destruction of Earth, which subsequently forced the humans of Earth to leave their home and settle on Evermore. Catalyst II gave rise to the infamous Paradisian Empire, allowing the Evermoran colonizers to establish a nearly indomitable foothold and later dominion on Etagard. It is also the parent geometrid of the Titanframes and their Geometrid Cores, the primary enablers of the conquest.

Appearance

It is difficult to know what Catalyst II would have truly looked like before being stripped down into Catalyst Intra, and even before that process began, its impact on the surface of the planet left it partially buried in the ground and therefore obscured. Its sheer immensity would have been difficult to fathom, even then, as estimates from the time put it at a comet tier abstract compact form Geometrid, a size rivaled only by the immense nebula tiers and eternal tiers.   Some images of the crash site survive, however, offering some clues to the geometrid's appearance, though the period the pictures originate from is several years after the initial impact, and structural development around the geometrid hide what could be key features. Written descriptions give more information, and combined with the images, the following facts can be gathered. Catalyst II, before being pared down by Gemini and the Lemniscate, had a matte black color, and a surface covered in shallow, curving grooves running parallel to each other. Like many geometrids, Catalyst II visually reacted to sounds, lighting up in a rainbow of neon colors forming fractal patterns, which erupted from the point of contact between the geometrid's surface and the vibrations of sound traveling through the air. Because Catalyst II was categorized as a compact geometrid, the geometrid did not possess any mass stored as free flowing energy or rigid shells around its solid center mass, though some scholars would argue the survivors of the fall could not have been able to prove this with the technology available to them at the time. Regardless of whether or not Catalyst II was indeed a compact form geometrid, any energy matter that might have existed would have been invisible to the naked eye.

History & Origin

Like all geometrids, very little is known about where Catalyst II came from, or what it might have been doing at that specific point in space, where it had its fateful encounter with the IPV Paradise. Opinions from historians and scholars alike split along two sides as to the geometrid's function, whether it was scout seeking a suitable location to spawn new geometrids and establish a cloud colony, or it was a rogue roaming without a purpose through empty space, far from any counterparts. The majority of those weighing in believe the former to be true, based on an important key factor: the geometrid's resonance frequency. According to sources detailing information on geometrids, stable resonance frequencies are not often to be found in rogue geometrids, which instead tend to have unstable extreme frequencies, or be completely dissonant. Catalyst II, and indeed Catalyst Intra, had and have stable resonance frequencies, as do all the Titanframe geometrid cores, leading to the conclusion that Catalyst II was most likely a scout geometrid.   As for where it came from, the answer is both straightforward and unknowable. The origin of all geometrids, the place where each forms, known as the Colossal Plane, would have birthed Catalyst II. Where, relative to space, this happened is a mystery, and where it went next, just as much so. It might have been traveling for hundreds, thousands, even a million years, or it might have come to exist only days or hours before the collision, but as there appears to be no way to determine a geometrid's age, this will never be known.

Disaster Turned Opportunity

Though little of Catalyst II's history pre-collision is or can be known, what happened next is well documented. The geometrid may have brought the IPV Paradise crashing down, thus ending its voyage into the unknown, but the survivors quickly turned the incident into an opportunity to start anew, for better or for worse. They had some advantages on their side: the first, and the basis for all else, was an understanding of geometrids and Geometrite. The basis of nearly all Evermoran technology, geometrite is a priceless resource, and Catalyst II served as a pure, nearly endless source for it, allowing the survivors to quickly develop infrastructure around the crash site. The second, which enabled initial harvest and use of the geometrite, was Gemini, a mysterious geometrid that little is known of. Records of its partner pilot were mostly destroyed or buried, but because of their integral role in the creation of the Titanframes, their existence has not been completely erased, allowing modern historians to understand how early Paradisians were able to harness the power of Catalyst II and geometrite so quickly. The third and final major advantage the survivors had was salvaged from the remains of their doomed ship. The IPV Paradise, a ship full of people journeying to a new world to settle, came well equipped with everything a colony would need to succeed, all the equipment and technology required to found a thriving civilization. The presence of geometrite only hastened the process, and the survivors founded Paradise, the would-be capital city of the Paradisian Empire, in a matter of eleven years.
