The Blending

The Blending is the beginning. The spark that lit the arcane fire, the door that opened the world, the scroll that revealed the truth of gods. But it was also the end. The end of innocence, the end of peace and the end of creation's unblemished song.

The Blending is an event that many myths, legends and histories mention. While exact details can vary, the overall stories tend to be similar. Depending on the legend, The Blending is also known as The Spark, The Corruption and The Enlightening.

The event begins due to the arrival of a people known as the Neph. As the legends say, they entered Estia in the north, within the mountains via a portal. The Ancients regarded the Neph with mixed reactions, some welcoming them while others banning them from their settlements entirely.

The Neph did not come empty handed, and to the peoples who welcomed them explained their plight. A cruel god had lay a curse on their peoples which had wiped out their women and so they could not father the future of their race. They offered to teach the hospitable peoples magic, and show them how to explore the universe if only they'd let the Neph settle and intermarry into their settlements.

This is where the stories begin to diverge, some speaking of a golden age and others describing horrific conditions and the enslavement of the ancient peoples. One thing is for sure and that is the ancients were frequently leaving Estia for other planes and settling far from their homelands.
