Call Planar Being

Either by Arcane or Divine means you can summon a being from distant planes.

Effect

Arcane

Casting this spell creates the possibility of a dangerous encounter. You are luring a creature from another plane to a specifically prepared trap, which must lie within the spell's range. The creature is held in the trap until it agrees to perform 1 task.

To create the trap you must spend 10 mana points creating a magic circle on the ground focused inward (the summoned creature will appear inside the circle). The magic circle must be keyed for the alignment of the creature you are planning to summon (Evil, Good, Law, or Chaos). The type of creature must be known and stated (worked into the magic circle). It takes 10 minutes to create the magic circle.

Once the magic circle is complete, you can begin your planar binding which will also take 10 minutes. If the creature has a specific, proper, or given name, this must be used in casting the spell. The creature is allowed a Will save, if they succeed, they resist the spell. If they fail they are immediately drawn into the circle. The creature can escape the circle with a successful spell resistance roll, dimensional travel, or a successful Charisma check (DC 15+1/2 its HD + Charisma modifier). It can try each method of escape once a day. If it breaks loose, it can flee to its home plane, or attack you.

If the creature does not break free from the trap, you can keep it bound for as long as you dare. You can attempt to compel it to perform a service by describing the service and perhaps offering a reward. You make a Charisma check opposed by the creature's Charisma check. The DM assigns a bonus based on the service and the reward, from 0 to +6. This bonus applies to your Charisma check. If the creature wins the opposed check, it refuses the service. New offers, bribes and the like can be made or the old ones can be reoffered after 24 hours. This can be repeated until the creature promises to serve you, or until it breaks free, or until you decide to get rid of it by means of some other spell. Impossible demands or unreasonable commands are never agreed to. If you roll a 1 on the Charisma check, the creature breaks free of the magic circle immediately and can escape or attack you.

Once the requested service is completed, the creature needs only to inform you to be instantly sent back whence it came. The creature might later seek revenge. if you assign some open-ended task that the creature cannot complete through its own action, (such as "wait here", or "guard this area") the spell remains in effect for 1 day per caster mana tree rank, and the creature gains immediate chance to break free. Note that clever recipients can subvert some instructions.

For 22 mana points, you can summon one outsider of up to 8HD.

For 30 mana points, you can summon one outsider of up to 16HD.

For 46 mana points, you can summon one outsider of up to 24HD.

Divine

By casting this spell you request your deity to send you an elemental or outsider of your deity's choice to aid you. If you serve no particular deity, the call is answered by a creature sharing your alignment. If you know an individual creature's name, you may request that individual by speaking the creature's name during the spell (although you might get a different creature anyway).

You may ask the creature to perform a task for you, and the creature might ask you to perform a service in return. The greater the task, the greater return favor the creature asks for. This bargaining takes at least 1 round, so any actions by the creature begin in the round after it arrives. If you agree to the service, the creature performs the task you requested, reports back to you afterward (if possible), and returns to its home plane. You are honor-bound to perform the return favor.

The creature may accept some form of payment, such as a magic item, in return for its service. The creature may keep it or may deliver the item to another member of your religion somewhere else, where it can help the religion's cause.

For 15 mana points, you can summon one outsider of up to 8HD.

For 30 mana points, you can summon one outsider of up to 16HD.

For 46 mana points, you can summon one outsider of up to 24HD.
