Wild Elves

The term used to refer to the elves that hail from Tuatha and periodically migrate to Estemor through the Warden Peaks.   The term "Wild" comes from the fact that during the Dark Age, Elves were characterized by as living a nomadic lifestyle or occupying existing settlements rather than establishing their own. Their incursions were innumerable over the couorse of the Dark Age as well as the first few centuries of the Empire of Amertus. Though each occupation was eventually driven out, the influence of the tribes' cultural influence is most noticeable in Karelia, where many human families can claim to have some degree of elven lineage.   "Half-Elves" as they are often called, can be found in all parts of Estemor. A blood connection to elves not necessarily something a human would boast about, however. Elves raised in Imperial cities may be pressured to keep to the districts where their number is many, while Dullac has long enslaved those of Elven lineage. On the whole, Estemor is not the home of elvenkind, yet so many Wild Elves have faced extreme danger in order to reach this foreign land for reasons that remain elusive to most.   Elves who have long resided in Estemor often refer to one another as City Elves to differentiate themselves from other elves who have only recently immigrated from Tuatha. While some consider this an important distinction, many humans do not account for it. Still, an elf who can speak the common tongue and was raised in similar conditions will likely garner more respect from human authority than an out-lander disinterested in communication.
