909 AS - The Era of Three Skies
The peninsular continent of Estemor has never been a united land.
In the days of Yore, everything was held together by a massive society that had unlocked the secrets of both magic and science. But such wonders were not enough to stop it from tearing itself apart in a war between gods and humans.
A dark age followed. The developments that allowed the humans to reign were lost to time and war. Elves from a neighboring land began to creep past the ruined borders and took land where they could. But eventually, the gods that remained took pity on mankind and saved them from total darkness.
A new Empire was born, driving back invaders and unifying the land. But after centuries, even this could not last. Religious disagreements caused the north to break free and form an independent Principality. Then cultural differences gave way to a Republic in the southeast.
The three states have warred periodically, but now find themselves in an uncertain peace following a series of skirmishes. But even in peacetime, there are myriad threats to the security of the realm. The remnants of the old ways lie just beneath the surface and there are some who take great interest in that sealed power...
