Holdsmen

The Holdsmen were once revered protectors and knights of the realm. Currently they are considered an obsolete and archaic order. Where once Nobles and Knights volunteered for service in the Holdsmen, now criminals are given the choice of gallows or "The Hold". Noble houses send heirs that would never inherit land or title to remove them from mind and sight. Some still volunteer, but mostly because without the meals and cots provided they would starve and/or die of exposure. Regardless of the reason each Holdsman is there, they are trained to the best ability of the Holdsmen Leadership.
