Mughtodir

Centered a few miles north of the Sagris Fields, Mughtodir is a giant crater that formed from the crashing of an Illithid dreadnaught during The War of the Sunless Skies. It is an area that the Darahlian Empire has declared off-limits and used to guard heavily before Eirgarðr started. It was the sight of many large battles during the war against the Illithids and many believe the Empire only guarded the place to prevent others from getting to the Illithid technology before they themselves could.
However, the Empire wasn't always able to stop everyone. Whether it was because of newfound border skirmishes or other threats to the Empire, the guards would sometimes leave the crater unattended. And there was never an absence of people trying to get a look at what was left in there. A lot of the people who delved into the crater were never heard from again. Some who made it back recount tales of weird visions and strange physical sensations.
There were some adventurers who upon returning from the Mughtodir swore that they could tap into the energies of the Astral Plane. Still others who swore they saw into another existence filled with spectral beings among a sea of stars. There is always a high price to be found for any item brought back from Mughtodir in the black market. Many more adventurers have tried, some claim they are working for the Empire itself.
It has been centuries since the crater appeared and the war was fought. The Gith remain citizens of the Empire and errant Illithid scouts are destroyed on sight. Mughtodir remains a place of mystery and danger for any who dare cross its treshold.
