Appearance
The Grey Cress grows close to the ground, it has wide leaves that sprout from its center and fall around it. The leaves have shimering teal spots that make the Cress look as if it were moving even in the absence of wind.
History
The Grey Cress is a somewhat recent discovery. It was found in one of the
Darahlian Empire's expeditions into
Mughtodir. Some botanists from the University were brought in to examine the effect the crater could have on the local flora which the Empire wanted to harvest. But what they discovered instead was a type of plant they had never seen before. The group took some samples back to the University and discover that the plant not only had arcane properties but it was also imbued with astral energy.
Uses
The botanists at the University have discovered some useful applications of the Grey Cress.
Arcane Enhancer
The plant can be mixed into an alchemical potion that can enhance illusory magic. It can also serve to strengthen or aid in establishing a connection to the Astral Plane.
Medicinal
While tests are still ongoing, there has been some success in using the Grey Cress to aid in the removal of some curses and diseases that arise from extraplanar sources.
Availability
The Grey Cress has been found only in Mughtodir and even in the crater it is not abundant. Therefore the Empire guards it very closely. The Emperor has ordered the faculty at the University to research a way to artifically construct the conditions that would allow the Grey Cress to grow outside of the crater but progress on that front has been slow.
