Pliscian Wastes
The Pliscian Wastes are a vast area of deserts, canyons, badlands, and desolate plains. It is home to a number of unstable portals to other Iterums, from which monsters and other evils enter Essaria. Few make the Wastes their home, and those that do rarely do so by choice.
The Wastes were once a hub of the Pliscian Civilization. Whatever event caused the Pliscian Winter seems to have originated from somewhere within the Wastes. During the winter, the region was radically altered, destroying and burying much of the infrastructure and buildings that once stood there. As a result, the Wastes are the source of most Pliscian artifacts that remain in the world. Despite being guarded by horrors and Pliscian defenses, many adventurers venture into these ruins in search of treasure.
Faloriand shares the most open border with the Wastes. As a result, an ancient organization known as Vigil has guarded the edges of the Wastes, defeating or repelling any of the dangers that seek to escape into the rest of the world. Some also manage to cross The Shards into Edrana.
