All Stout's Day

History & Lore

A dwarven holiday centered around their most significant cultural commonality was always bound to be successful. The Apostle Queen Andilla commissioned an annual All Stout's Day celebration of the Dwarven culture, specifically Dwarven drink. The celebration was an instant success and became a highlight of Dwarven culture. The celebration changes cities each year and brings with it both a massive influx of commerce and a series of issues including increased crime, property damage, and overall debauchery.   Despite the increased presence of the Blackguard Orc Security Company - BOSC each All Stout's Day has caused a number of disruptions in global markets based on whatever popular additives, flavors, and or colorings are being used for the theme of the annual celebration. Two years ago the cost of an Elvish mango was inflated to over 362% of their natural value thank to the Mango Honey Pilsner thought up by a dwarf with a penchant for fruitier beers. A known entity among the Dwarvish populations, All Stout's Day has recently become a favorite among Tabaxi and Goblins who enjoy the occasional fermented beverage.   The celebration lasts for 5 days which include First Round's Day, Sober Saints Day, Grog's Eve, Grogsfall, and All Stout's Day:
  • First Round(er)'s Day is a celebration of giving in which it is considered good luck to purchase first rounds, and the earlier the better. Thus many who celebrate kick off their celebrations at 12:01 the morning on Roundsday.
  • Sober Saints Day is far from what its name implies as Red Vizars and the Royal Court are forbidden from partaking in the consumption of alcohol with the exception of Sober Saints day. This has led to a massive party held by the Apostle King/Queen during this day, usually by invitation only.
  • Grog's Eve and Grogsfall is a day centered around the Grogland Riots in which a sugar shortage across Espen brought a legion of Orcs from the broken lands to the steps of Dwarvish territory. Over the next week, the orcs terrorized Dwarven-affiliated villages. It wasn't until a group of Stout's Day patrons gathered together after a night of drinking and decided they'd had enough. Taking up arms they shambled from village to village drinking and fighting until the orcs had been pushed back. This led to the tradition of meandering from village to village drinking as much as possible (and usually getting into a fight or two). Each village's seal is collected on an individual's respective tankard and is considered a badge of honor.
  • All Stout's Day is the final day of the festival in which the only shops open are the taverns and bars. Unique brews are concocted and fetch the highest prices during this day.
