The Tinkerscale Kobolds
Living in the tunnels and chambers underneath The God Forge, The Tinkerscale Kobolds revere the forge as a place of power and act as its keepers, cleaning and maintaining it and working as forge assistants for the dwarves of Godforge Hold. The relationship between the kobolds and the dwarves is an ancient one, and over the centuries the warrens have expanded under the watchful eyes of the overseer of mines and master of The God Forge.
History
It wasn't long after The God Forge was completed that the first kobolds were found living in the maintenance spaces below the forge, much to the consternation and confusion of the dwarves. Their first instinct was to immediately evict the interlopers, but the earnest admiration and reveration that the kobolds showed towards The God Forge and by extension the dwarves who tended to it changed their minds. In the years since that first meeting, the spaces under the forge have been expanded into a proper warren and the kobolds have become the keepers of The God Forge, keeping it clean and maintained and even serving as forge assistants for the dwarves.
Culture
The Tinkerscales are in the enviable position of having a place of power that they can interact with and show their reverence for in a more practical manner than most. What originally started as blind devotion has turned into an understanding of the mechanics and magics which power the forge that is unsurpassed by even the Godforge dwarves, knowledge which is passed from generation to generation of kobold forgekeepers.
The kobolds have become remarkably integrated into the hold's dwarven society, with most of the kobolds serving as forge assistants for at least a portion of their lives and some even becoming full fledged dwarven trained smiths. Tinkerscales can even be found outside of the forge, working as apprentices in all manner of professions, and though their relatively short lifespans means that they rarely reach a level which the dwarves would consider mastery, their enthusiasm makes up for much of their lack of experience.
Blessings
While nearly all kobolds revere their places of power as gifts from The Great Wyrmdragon, the tinkerscales believe that they have been blessed above all others due to the incredible variation of blessings which they can obtain from it. The many different magics involved in the function of the The God Forge each provide their own effects on developing kobold eggs, and by varying the exact location where clutches are laid and incubated the kobolds can shape the next generation.
Elementheart
Elemental magic provides the beating heart of The God Forge, from the fires of the forges and the air of the bellows to the water which flows throughout and keeps it all from melting down. Fire, metal, air and water blessings can all be obtained through careful placement of nests, and the tinkerscales have become intimately familiar with the best places to incubate their eggs.
Spellhorn
Sometimes the raw magic of The God Forge eclipses any elemental influence and this produces kobolds who are born with a touch of magic flowing through their veins, posessed of an instinctive knowledge of the arcane.
Tunnelflood
Out of every clutch of water elementheart kobolds which is born, a few are born as Tunnelfloods, nearly as at home in the water as on land. These individuals are incredibly important to the maintenance of The God Forge, able to swim through the larger pipes, monitor them for damage, and perform underwater repairs as necessary.
