Achaea
Achaea is an idyllic region at first glance, fertile fields and rolling hills allow the production of some of the best olive oil and wine in the continent, but outside of settled areas the land is untamed and filled with dangerous beasts for adventurers and aspiring heroes to hunt. The various city states are among the oldest unconsolidated nations on the continent, the settled regions are tamed and kept safe by the famous Achaean hoplites, and the wild regions are deliberately kept unspoiled, beautiful, and dangerous.
Geography and Climate
This region tends towards hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, although the northern edge of oenotria, to the north of the Vena hills, has a climate closer to that of bommbergonia. This climate lends itself well to olives, wine grapes, nuts, citrus, and tomatoes, all of which the local cuisine is famous for. The soil along the coasts lends itself well to agriculture, while the soil in the hillier regions is suitable for little but the hearty conifers, heather, and scrub brush which dominate their slopes.
The Oenotrian Peninsula
Situated between Bommbergonia and Achaea, The Oenotrian peninsula starts at the spine in the east and narrows when it reaches the sea, turning into the long peninsula which stretches out towards Galacia and separates The Pickett Sea from The Mare Promiscus. The whole thing is referred to as The Oenotrian Peninsula despite only half of it actually fitting that description, and particularly pedantic scholars froth at the mouth while insisting that half of is it just Bommbergonia or Achaea, and then get into fistfights with each other over which of the two it is. The majority of the region is peaceful and thoroughly developed, even the foothills of The Spine are lined with forests, vineyards, and orchards.
The Vene Hills
Running the length of the Oenotrian Peninsula before merging with the foothills of The Spine, these fertile hills are lined with vineyards and olive plantations.
The Tail
This hilly offshoot of the foothills of The Spine run most of the length of Achaea, splitting the region down the middle and providing plenty of rough, difficult to settle terrain for the many monsters which famously make this region their home to inhabit.
Nations
All of the states in this region are allied in some fashion or another, whether as an alliance of equals or as a protectorate, although this isn't to say that tensions don't exist between them. As in any supposed alliance of equals, historical rivalries and grudges, economic competition, and simple politics are always in play.
Oenotria
The self proclaimed gastronomic capital of the Shattered Continent, a claim much disputed by the Alborians, Oenotria is a region with a tremendous amount of fertile farmland and a rich tradition of turning the food it produces into some of the best food in the entire continent.
The Achaean City States
The dominant power in this region, The Achaean City States is an alliance of independant city states rather than a true nation, but when threatened their combined armies can stand up to the greatest powers on the continent. They hold Oenotria as their protectorate, and have successfully fought back multiple bommbergonian invasions of their smaller neighbor.
