Qlaw

Home to the Daen people, the proud and ancient city of Qlaw lies far to the north in the mountains, its northern walls, the oldest and most grand quarter of the stronghold is protected by the foothills of The Dire Peaks’ steep black rock slopes. Thick wrought walls of grey brick and square towers encompass the vast majority of Qlaw, at some points stretching as far south as The Black Water. The buildings outside of the wall are predominantly wooden, of the same dark spruce wood as the docks, a sizeable trading and fishing port. It's a wonder the vast lake never freezes. The great gates of Qlaw, are impressive ediface of sprucewood as thicker than an arms bredth, interlaced with heavy metal members, dull grey in colour, a substanceknown as Iceiron. Stronger than most steel, its only found way north into the Dire and worked at The Wyrforge, by the Forgemasters. Engraved into the middle of the gargantuan doors to Qlaw, divided into two so as the gates are able to open, is a Maws head, razor teeth gnashing. The heavy circular plate of metal its engraved into, stood as tall as four men, a fraction compared to the whole gates.   Ancient as the old city, it's said to have been built when the Daen crossed the Dire many centuries ago. The tales say that the stone giants, ancient Agnyt who rose alongside the Direpeaks helped shape the walls of Qlaw. The great hall, or Kreisshall is the most northerly building in Qlaw, higher up than any other structure, its imposing dark grey visage is visible from most parts of the city, especially at night, the moonlight reflecting off the cold ancient stone. The most frequented local in the lowest quarter - The Maw's Head Tavern. The Commerce quarter and Fabric quarter house the city's industry.
