Dalar Tribes
A Chronicle of Prominent Contemporary Dalar Communities by Professor Reginold Greenfin
Coral | Having the most sheltered existence, living off the bountiful reefs off archipelagos out to sea, the coral Dalar sustain a greater population, and thus have more freedom to pursue interests of religion, art and culture. Their skin often has more colourful hues and many wear decorative coral jewellery and armour. Their buildings are embedded in shallow reefs like The Temple of Osmos - a most impressive structure Dalar visit from far and wide.
Coastal | Naturally having more to do with mainlanders than other tribes, Coastal Dalar are the most diplomatic of their kind, trading goods from ashore with their more waterborne kin. They harvest the bounties of the coast and build their floating settlements in sheltered coves and estuaries. Adaptive and forward thinking, some are even enrolled at the Mages tower in Myrtown. They garb themselves in more clothing than other Dalar as exposure to the sun can burn them. Greener skin tones are common in coastal Dalar.
Coriso | The most nomadic Dalar tribe, producing the most skilled navigators as they follow the criss-crossing currents of the high seas in their skifs. Adept seafarers and friends to sea beasts, Coriso Dalar shepard whales and turtles, protecting them from predators, a mutually beneficial arrangement. Having the largest fins of the Dalarfolk, they are the best swimmers.
Coldwater | Generally hardier and stockier in build, Coldwater Dalar wear sealskins to help insulate against the cold northerly waters where they dwell. They live probably the hardest existence of the tribes, and while perhaps less eloquent than their cousins, breed the fiercest warriors. Hunting big game to feed their kin assures this. Settling on Icebergs they are safe from larger predators that inhabit their waters.
Deepwater Dalar | A Dalar tribe that forsook Osmos' light and dabbled in deep magic, trading who knows what to gain permanency on the seafloor.
