The Bloodblades

The Servants of Caillen  who pay homage to the Lord of Murder. They reside in the town of Crook Crag but do venture off into other parts of the world. Only the best assassins are allowed to join their ranks, although they have a loose definition of an assassin. For their services they accept payments but they also do it for honor, searching for worthy targets of their abilities.

History

The Bloodblades were formed when a few members of a guild heard the call of Caillen, they began to eliminate their enemies in the cover of darkness. As they took more lives they found themselves blessed with Caillen's power.

All members of the Bloodblades are clerics.

Granted Divine Powers

Once a member of the Bloodblade achieves the rank of Longsword they are granted the Blooddrain ability. When they kill an enemy they gain a burst of energy and strength from their blood.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Worship of Caillen is absolute, if a person does not swear fealty or are unfaithful to the Lord of Murder, they are killed by their fellows.

Cunning Action. On each of its turns, the bloodblade can use a bonus action to take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action.   Caillen's Empowerment. When the bloodblade deals damage to an enemy it gains 1d6 temporary hit points. These hit points stack to a maximum of 20.   Caillen’s Sight. Magical darkness doesn’t impede the bloodblade’s darkvision.   Slayer. In the first round of a combat, the bloodblade has advantage on attack rolls against any creature that hasn’t taken a turn yet. If the bloodblade hits a creature that round who was surprised, the hit is automatically a critical hit.

Multiattack. The bloodblade makes two scimitar or crossbow attack.   Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.   Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6+3) piercing damage.   Veil of Caillen(Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). The bloodblade casts darkness without any components. Wisdom is its spellcasting ability.
