They walked Erthos before the other races but never really talk about the time before. This is not due to a dislike of the subject matter but because none of the elves remember.
At the beginning of the Mortal Age, the elves who were alive had their memories wiped. They could remember how to cast basic magic, many everyday things, who their family was, but not the reason for the memory loss. Since then they have sought answers through various means.

The Reproductive rate of an elf is lesser than the other races, they have offspring once every hundred years or so.

The Elves are effectively immortal; it is unknown to the mortal races if they can even perish from natural causes.

The Elves are broken into families, whose lines can be traced back to the first elves who still rule over their families. While they have no cities of their own they travel through the woods with their family as nomads.

The Elves have a long history because they were created by the Spirits during the First Age. THeir history from that time remains slightly a mystery to them due to the fact that the Chara Spirits wiped their minds
