Magic Practice

Broad Definition

Magic Practice describes any form of action or research that requires mystical energies to work.

Classification

Magic Practice is first divided into four classes that greatly differ from one another: Mortal, Divine, Eldritch and Primordial. These names also show the species that mainly practice it but it is not impossible for a normal human to use divine magic or a Celestial to use eldritch one. Mortal magic has many rules/laws and is more a form of science using mystical energies. Divine magic is mainly fuelled by the soul of its practitioner and can ignore the boundaries of mortal magic but is still restricted by the power of the soul. Primordial magic uses the forces of Chaos, Order and Time and has no limits. Eldritch magic is non-sensical and impossible to describe by nature.

Types

While the four classes of Magic Practice have great differences there appliances can further be divided into these types:

  • Spellcraft - Using incantations/signs to produce quick, usually one-time only, results
  • Rituals - Using ingredients and circles to produce powerful and/or long-lasting results
  • Runecraft - Using runes as a medium to achieve precise results
  • Glyphs - Creating/Using glyphs that represent something
  • Artificing - Creating magical artefacts
  • Enchanting - Imbuing objects with (semi-)permanent effects
  • Alchemy - Combining science and enchanting to create artefacts, potions, wands, etc
