Faurost

Arctaevin Faurost, known by his soldiers as "The Scalpel", is a General in the Midaevian Army and the Commander of the 12th Imperial Banner Legion. As the most senior officer in the North, he oversees all Imperial operations in the region. In addition, he is currently acting as an adviser to King Rordin, ensuring that he keeps his throne and follows the Empire's instructions.
Background
Arctaevin was born in the city of Adlena in the Imperial Province of Geardas. The Faurosts are Geardasian nobles, having resided in the city since the time of the Republic of Geardas. As the second-born son, tradition dictated he seek to advance the prestige and renown of the family name through military service. Although as a nobleman he would have been guaranteed an commission, instead he absconded the day before he was due to start his posting and joined the rank-and-fil under a false name. By the time his family caught wind of the scheme he had already boarded a ship. 
He spent the first twelve years of his career fighting rebels in Sudyria, where he gained a reputation for being able to keep a cool head no matter how dire the situation. After designing and executing a plan that resulted in the capture of a rebel fortress, he was offered a promotion, the first of many he would receive. 
It was in Sudyria that he also met his wife, the daughter of the Emir of Dorayath. Although the Emir tried to stop them from marrying, he simply climbed up to the window of her bedchamber and took her. 
When he finally returned to Adlena, it was as a Second Tribune, commanding a full cohort of the 27th Banner Legion. His experiences in Sudyria, together with his reputation as keen analytical thinker and the privilege his noble birth afforded him made him the ideal candidate to take command of one of the legions being assembled to fight rebels in the North and, eventually, invade Ordayn.
