Unit value: Determined by the creature's CR. Armor: Replaces the metal. While wearing a medium armour (non-hide) made with chitin, the armour's dexterity bonus increases by 1. Heavy armours made with chitin reduce the Strength requirement by 1.

These flexible shells of chitinous creatures such as giant crabs or Remorhaz are used to craft armours, known to be lighter than metallic armours.
