Mallkim’Hurai

(Also known as: Orks, Green Savages)

The Mallkim’Hurai are a fractured and cursed race, marked by a dark history of betrayal, ambition, and manipulation. Once noble and prosperous, they are now defined by their suffering, their lost connection to the Source, and the generational curse that dooms them to the Abyss upon death.   Despite their tragic fate, they persist—some embracing their monstrous nature, others striving for redemption, and some reveling in their misery.

Origins and Betrayal

Former Glory
The Mallkim’Hurai were once a part of the Asallahir, a noble race connected to the Source, a mystical lifeforce that sustained their magic, culture, and land. Their civilization thrived around the Source trees, conduits of immense power that symbolized unity and prosperity.
Luceritas’ Deception
Their downfall was orchestrated by Luceritas, a cunning and powerful entity. He promised the ancestors of the Mallkim’Hurai supreme dominance over all existence—if they destroyed their Source tree and consumed its energy. Blinded by ambition, they agreed.
The Fall and the Curse
When the Source tree was destroyed, the promised power never came. Instead: Their connection to the Source was severed, cutting them off from their magic and lifeblood. Their homeland, Karatos, became a barren wasteland of cracked earth and lifeless terrain. The Generational Curse was cast upon them, condemning all their descendants to the Abyss, an eternal void of torment, upon death.
There is no redemption, as the curse is bound to their ancestral sin.

Life in Karatos

The Mallkim’Hurai’s home reflects their cursed existence:
Geography
  • Lifeless terrain, with jagged cliffs, cracked ground, and an oppressive, unending gloom.
  • The Remains of the Source Tree, a blackened, skeletal husk, standing as an eternal reminder of their folly.
Survival
Forced to become scavengers, the Mallkim’Hurai rely on brutal and unorthodox survival methods. With no access to the Source’s energy, their abilities are limited and unnatural, shaped by necessity rather than mystical connection. Their culture is overshadowed by inevitable damnation, driving their actions and philosophy.
Luceritas’ Legacy
While Luceritas manipulated their ancestors, the Mallkim’Hurai ultimately made their own choice—sealing their fate. Many hold unrelenting hatred toward him. Some believe he holds the key to their salvation. After the fall, Luceritas vanished, leaving them to suffer the consequences alone.

Cultural Fractures: The Subcultures

The curse fractured the Mallkim’Hurai into three distinct subcultures, each with a different response to their suffering.

Orku'Divoch (Savage Orks)

Appearance
  • Towering, nearly 10 feet tall, with massive tusks and exaggerated musculature.
  • Wild, feral, and built for war.
Philosophy
  • They embrace the curse, viewing it as freedom from morality.
  • Strength and domination are their guiding principles.
  • Mercy is weakness, and violence is the only truth.
Lifestyle
  • Raiding, slaving, and warring, reveling in their monstrous nature.
  • Exist as nomadic warbands, constantly seeking conquest.
Spiritual Outlook
They accept their fate in the Abyss and use it to justify their savagery.

Orku'Oras (City Orks)

Appearance
  • Still large and strong but with refined, disciplined features.
  • Their posture and mannerisms suggest self-control and restraint.
Philosophy
  • They reject the nihilism of their curse, striving for redemption and coexistence.
  • They believe actions can define them, even if the curse looms over them.
Lifestyle
  • Integrate with other races, working as blacksmiths, soldiers, and builders.
  • Face constant prejudice from others and scorn from their own kin.
Spiritual Outlook
They see their struggle as noble, attempting to prove the curse does not define them.

Orku'Dibaje (Deformed Orks)

Appearance
  • Twisted, malformed bodies, often hunched or limping.
  • Sunken eyes, grotesque limbs, and aura of sickness.
Philosophy
  • They embrace despair, believing suffering is inevitable.
  • Their existence is defined by malice and self-destruction.
Lifestyle
  • Operate in the shadows, spreading disease, sabotage, and corruption.
  • Driven by spite rather than ambition, seeking to drag others into their misery.
Spiritual Outlook
They see no hope, no redemption, only the desire to spread suffering.

Key Themes Across Subcultures

Shared Curse
All subcultures are bound by their severed connection to the Source and the looming fate of the Abyss.
Identity and Choice
Each group represents a unique reaction to their doomed existence:
Conflict and Isolation
  • Shunned by other races, feared and hated for their past sins.
  • Internally divided, each subculture holding vastly different ideals.

Legacy

The Mallkim’Hurai stand as a living cautionary tale, a stark warning of the dangers of greed, betrayal, and unchecked ambition. While their suffering defines them, their endurance speaks to an indomitable will. Some fight for power, others for redemption, and some simply to spread pain—but all share the same doomed fate. Their existence is a tragic yet fascinating exploration of:
  • The weight of consequence
  • The struggle against fate
  • The eternal conflict between despair and hope
No matter their choices, the Mallkim’Hurai endure—whether through rage, resilience, or ruin.
