Puck
God of Trickery and Illusion
Mistaken by fools as a simple trickster, he uses his percieved tricks to teach lessons to the foolish and the wise alike. His worshipers vary greatly from wizards to monster slayers for his gift of insight and illusion. Along with Wry, Puck is thought to be a teacher, and uses strange and sometimes absurd trials that can leave his disciples questioning their very reasons for being. Puck is rarely worshipped alone. Many see him as a companion to other gods such as Ire and Wry. However, no one really knows how those associations came about.
Throughout history Puck has been one of the few gods in the world of Erolan that people don't fully understand. Most of the instances or stories told about him are so outlandish that few believe their validity. Some of these stories actually tell of how Puck has defied the other gods at one time or another. It is for these reasons Puck is not worshipped as much as the other gods, and why many believe Puck to be a god of simple trickery and deception. However, those who actually consider themselves followers believe worshipping Puck will bring them enlightenment and true wisdom.
There are many paths and ways that followers of Puck try to reach enlightenment. Some are secretive and measured in their search. Others are boisterous and work with abandon. The Ambitus Sojourn, practiced in Harshhorne , is one of the most perilous. It is also considered to be the greatest test of one's self, not only by the Followers of Puck, but even by some followers of other gods. The Ambitus Sojourn has been practiced since the founding of Harshorne.
Keen observers and skilled in disguise, disciples of Puck are not often outspoken about their worship of Puck. Though they hone and practice many trades, they are often magicians, illusionists, and jesters, which allows them to travel to do their work. Though in practice, ‘Churches’ of Puck do not exist in a literal sense. They do take the form of theaters or performance halls, where the performances involved are all designed to teach a valuable lesson that may not be immediately apparent.
