Hursag Dwarves
A stout, humanoid race, famous for their determination and sense of justice.
Hursag Dwarves are a sturdy, stout humanoid race that until very recently were found mostly in their underground kingdom, Azarak. Only years ago, they made a dark discovery, and their home was taken from them by a host of monstrous creatures.
Hursag dwarves take great pride in their beard or hair, usually decorating them with various trinkets and symbols, which usually relate to accomplishments in life such as marriage, craftsmanship and more. They see their hair as a symbol of not only wisdom but of social status amongst other Hursag dwarves. Hursag dwarves are naturally stubborn and resistant to change. In Old Azarak, their society was rigid and orderly, with Hursag dwarves never changing professions and adhering to customs that have been in existence for centuries. Hursag dwarves are often stalwart, reserving displays of intense emotion for those that share an intimate bond with them. They tend to have strong opinions on morality, and of the definitions of right and wrong, which can rub some the wrong way, but making their intentions clear from the outset.
It is believed by most Hursag dwarves, even in other cultures, that they were shaped from the earth into what they are today by Mur-Azarak, their god, when he needed the perfect workers to harvest the bounties of the world that he created. In other cultures, it is believed that Mur-Azarak is conflated with Writ. They believe he has come to them several times in the past in order to save them. This belief has left some Hursag dwarves in a crisis of faith, as since the fall of Old Azarak, there has been no sign of their god to save them.
