Rippleghasts

Beings of unknown origin that have begun to appear across Erlyse at seemingly random intervals in the last two hundred years. These entities are composed of elemental forces which manifest within deceased creatures (often large ones) and animate the corpses until they are exorcised or eradicated from the physical plane. These abominations have no direction once they manifest, simply wandering the world at their leisure entirely ignorant of mortal races and the destruction they leave in their wake. They only become alert to threats when acted upon by beings with enough power to redirect their path, and have been known to cause more destruction when a RISE agent attempts to divert one from engulfing a settlement, since Rippleghasts become focused solely on elimination of anything that catches their attention.
